"In 2006, I began recording my first legitimate solo work. At that time the band I was in Nerdy Warts (my friend Peter Lambert and I) were getting reasonable attention amongst our circle of friends. So when I finished my first solo album I decided to use my Nerdy Warts moniker, Chocolate Audio, instead of my real name. It just made sense at that moment in time. Chocolate Audio was the name that my small fan base knew me as, plus it afforded me the option to be silly, akin to the likes of Ween, Beck, etc. As the years passed I decided to drop the moniker and just release my music under my real name. Hence, many of the tracks (almost all) were rereleased on subsequent Jay Byrne albums (just polished a bit here and there). Upon relistening to these original Chocolate Audio albums I realized that there was a charm inherent to the original track listings that does get a bit lost in the compilations. So I've decided to make these original albums available (for archival purposes). If you want the polished, finished stuff you can stick to the 2015 and on releases (Passing Time, etc.). Those do carry almost all of these tracks (remixed and remastered in some cases). I just like these versions too and find it interesting to hear these tracks with their original album sequencing, the way they were initially designed. Warts and all."
